International youth basketball tournament

DATES AND PLACE

The Tournament will be held in Tartu, Estonia on 24-26 May 2013

The games will start on Friday 24th May at 10.00 a.m, Saturday and Sunday 26th-27th May at 9.00 a.m. The tournament will end on 26th May at 14.00.

AGE GROUPS

  • boys born 1997
  • boys born 1998
  • boys born 1999
  • boys born 2000
  • boys born 2001
  • boys born 2002
  • boys born 2003

TOURNAMENT RULES

In age groups 1997-2000 the games are played according to FIBA rules with following amendments:

  • Team consists of maximum 12 players and 2 coaches
  • Playing time is  4 x 8 minutes (effective time) and overtime is 3 minutes
  • Zone defense is not allowed
  • For each quarter of game teams have one 1 min timeout.
  • Age-groups 1999 and 2000 will play with ball size 6
  • Age-groups 1997 and 1998 will play with ball size 7

In age groups 2001-2003 the games will be played according to minibasketball rules with following amendments:

  • Team consists of maximum  12 players and 2 coaches
  • Playing time is  4 x 8 minutes running time, last 2 minutes effective time and overtime is 3 minutes
  • Five players should play in the first period and one player is substitute, other five players should play in the second period and one player is substitute, all players can play in the third and fourth periods. Each player can play up to three periods.
  • Full-court pressing is allowed only during second half and if the score difference is not over 30 points. If pressing is applied a warning and after that a tehnical foul is given for the team (stated by game referee).
  • Zone defense is not allowed
  • For each quarter of game teams have one 1 min timeout.
  • Ball size 5
  • Basket height is 260 cm

Best three teams of each age group will be awarded with medals and trophies. All participants will get rewarded with a diploma and a memorabilia.

TOURNAMENT SYSTEM

In all age groups 8 teams will form 2 sub-groups. Each team gets three games in sub-group and two games in play-off.  In case of fewer teams the tournament system will be changed accordingly.

Tournament schedule and groups will be announced by May 20th 2013.

TEAM FEE

Team fee is 100  € per team. The participation in tournament must be confirmed in written form till  May 1st 2013 by e-mail to andres.ottender@ut.ee

Team fee should be paid and team rosters should be sent by May 10th 2013. The fee should be paid to MTÜ Tartu Ülikooli Akadeemilise Spordiklubi’s account 10152001630003 SEB Bank.

ACCOMODATION

a)       A-PASS (hotel) – 70 EUR per person

Includes 2 night accommodation in a hotel (Raadimõisa Hotel or Tartu Vocational Center Hotel) and 6 meals (24.05 lunch – 26.05 breakfast)

b)       B-PASS (hostel) – 50 EUR per person

Includes 2 night accommodation in a hostel (Rehe Hotel, Hotel StarEst, Hostel Vaksali 4, Torni Hostel or Tamme Hostel) and 6 meals (24.05 lunch – 26.05 breakfast)
